Job Title Head, Technical Operations Job Type Permanent
Report To General Manager

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversees and champions the articulation and development of overall technical/expansion strategy and ensures alignment with PAWA 774’s corporate strategy and business goals
  • Provides overall guidance, leadership support and strategic direction in the execution of technical functions and activities
  • Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the technical department and ensures alignment with the overall goals and objectives of PAWA 774
  • Coordinates the development of the department’s business and work plans
  • Ensures constant availability of necessary infrastructure and end-user support to sustain operations
  • Maintains appropriate business relationship with relevant power contractors and suppliers
  • Directs and manages the completion of power infrastructure and maintenance in line with approved power rollout plan and strategy
  • Ensures efficient management of power infrastructures to provide service quality which meets/exceeds Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and requirements, and is capable of sustaining long term operational requirements
  • Manages the human and material resources of the department to optimize performance and enhance output
  • Supports the commercial manager in communicating the activities and achievements of the department to all relevant stakeholders
  • Prepares and submits periodic management reports on the activities of the department
  • Reviews and authorizes key expenditures/transactions of the department in line with approved financial authority limits
    • Continually reviews and assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of the department’s policies, procedures and processes and identify improvement opportunities
Qualifications and Experience
  • BSc/ HND in electrical/electronics engineering or any relevant course
  • Postgraduate degree in a related field or an MBA will be an added advantage
  • Experience in building and maintenance of power infrastructures in a developing economy
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience with at least 3 years at a senior management level
Competencies Required
  • In-depth knowledge of the international and local power industry’s key issues, trends, development operation and regulatory framework
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the design, build, operation and maintenance of power infrastructure including concepts and methodologies
  • Very good understanding of relevant power infrastructure management processes and procedures
  • Strong understanding of relevant power and IT applications and systems – billing, customer care, Enterprise, etc.
  • Ability to think strategically and holistically, and to appreciate the impact of policies, regulatory changes and new technology on power design and operational competitiveness
