Report To General Manager

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the department and ensures alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the organization, as well as regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Serves as key adviser to the company on the interpretation of accounting and tax regulation issues
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of finance and accounting policies, processes and procedures in line with leading practices
  • Oversees the establishment of efficient controls to mitigate identified financial risks
  • Oversees the development of PAWA 774’s corporate budget and the allocation of financial resources
  • Coordinates the proactive monitoring and reporting of budget positions
  • Assesses the development and implementation of robust cost management strategies to monitor and control costs company-wide
  • Periodically reviews key PAWA 774 finance activities and performance reports and takes appropriate action to ensure the company’s business objectives are achieved
  • Coordinates all revenue assurance activities to mitigate revenue leakages
  • Oversees the timely, accurate generation of relevant financial information/report to aid management’s strategic decision making
  • Coordinates the timely preparation of PAWA 774’s financial statements, ensuring the statements reflect the company’s financial position and comply with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Develops and maintains strategic relationships with key banks and other financial institutions
  • Prepares and analyzes monthly expense and P&L reports
    • Prepares and submits periodic management reports on the activities of the department for board and management decision making
Qualifications and Experience
  • First degree in accounting or related discipline
  • Professional accounting certification, e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICAN or other relevant higher business degree, with proven analytical and qualitative accounting/finance competencies
  • Experience in treasury funds management and loan syndication
  • 7 years cognate experience, of which at least 3 years at senior management level
Competencies Required
  • Good appreciation of the power industry operations, key issues, trends and development
  • Advanced financial and accounting knowledge, including in-depth understanding of international and local accounting and financial reporting standards
  • Good understanding of foreign exchange operations and regulations, and other relevant regulations, e.g. power industry, income and other tax, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of the local and international banking industry
  • Proven ability to interpret financial statements and apply a broad perspective in summarizing results
  • Verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills and the ability to influence others positively
  • Ability to think strategically and holistically and to appreciate the systematic impact of various policies, issues and solutions
